Spring 2018 found us in our home on Tellico Lake in Tennessee. This wasn’t the original plan, but we had sold our home in Naples, FL, and the new, smaller winter home in Florida was not due for completion until May, 2018. Tennessee was quite nippy, but we enjoyed the lovely lake views. Our bird feeders were extremely successful. We hope you enjoy a small sample of our many feeder “customers”.
Red-bellied Woodpecker searching for breakfast on the tree next to the feeders.
There is something about seeing a cardinal that makes it a good day. Common in Tennessee, I never tired of seeing one.
Another great favorite were the bluebirds who not only frequented our feeders but successfully raised baby bluebirds.
The grumpy rabbit
When you see the first Tree Swallow, spring has arrived. These beautiful birds, darting so swiftly over the lake had no interest in our feeders, but instead were busy keeping the bug population down.
House finches were our most ardent feeder customers. We called the House Finches our marketing department because their enthusiasm of our feeders enticed other species to try out our menu. Baby finches were brought to the feeder by the parents. Here is a father House Finch sharing the “kids’ menu” with his baby.
