In May, 2018, Team Finnegan closed on our new, smaller home in Naples, FL. We love the new house. It is 2 bedrooms with an office, but plenty big enough for us to live very comfortably. The development has set aside almost 2/3 for nature preserve, including a boardwalk to a meadow. We have seen a lot of wildlife in this development. We also have very nice neighbors.

We usually would not be in Naples in late May and early June. It is very hot and humid during that time of year. However, in 2018 we spent about three weeks moving into the new digs. In between boxes, we were able to take a few rides to favorite nature areas.

Anhingas dive for fish, but they don’t have oil in their feathers. After a fishing trip, Anhingas dry off by spreading out their wings in the sun. This male Anhinga is in breeding plumage with the green around the eyes and the spiky feathers on the head. Quite spectacular.

Blackneck Stilt mother and her two chicks. I wanted the lovely family portrait, but the mom and chicks were into their own individual pursuits.

What’s next for Team Finnegan? We decided to sell our Tennessee house and spend summers in our Manhattan apartment. Update in next blog post.
